3 Tips to Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is crucial to life. You can do a long time without food but only an average of 3 days without water before you could die. That's some serious business. Most people who suffer from dehydration don't even know that's what the problem is. For instance, did you know that we often misinterpret our bodies cry for water? That's right! We think we're hungry when in fact, we're in need of hydration.

Some signs you're in need of hydration are: Headaches and even migraines, hunger pangs, lethargy, thirst, dry skin, confusion, insomnia, and more. If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated! I've put together a few tips to help you stay hydrated.

Tip 1 - Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water everyday. If you drink caffeinated, sugary or alcoholic beverages, I would drink more. Also, if you exercise or are out in the sun, drink more.

Tip 2 - Add watermelon to your diet. It's a great source of natural electrolytes. Coconut water is great as well.

Tip - 3 Make sure your water source is purified and free of chemicals and plastic. If you use a plastic container to store your water, make sure to keep it out of direct sunlight and the heat. Heat causes plastic to leach into your water. Use a Klean Kanteen or a mason jar and carry it with you all day.

If you're not a fan of plain water; try adding lemon, cucumber, or a combination of lemon and mint. Orange slices along with lime tastes great too. Make sure to use organic and wash it well.
