With summer winding down, we often find that we've gained a few pounds. After all, summer is full of opportunities to eat unhealthy and slack off on exercising. We have the grand finale fast approaching on Labor Day and then it's back to business as usual. That's when we hop on the scale and reality sets in. We've gained 10 pounds and feel like our butt is hanging past our knees. Ok, maybe not to that extreme, but it's still a bit of a shock. Don't worry about it. Let it go, you can change it. Let's start planning now so that we go into the holiday season successful and feeling great about ourselves.
Hop on the scale now or put on your favorite pair of jeans and get an idea of how much weight you want to lose. What areas do you want to firm up? Your booty, or whole body?
Write it down. It's school supply time, so pick up several tablets and some pens while they're on sale. You'll use them throughout the year. Label one "Fall Health and Weight Loss Goals." Create your starting page. Include your starting weight, where you're at mentally, the areas you want change in, How you're feeling physically, and what your diet has been like the past few months. Get detailed.
Next, write out your goals. Keep it simple for each area you want to work on. Example; I want to lose 10 pounds, tone my entire body, feel better about myself, and lower my cholesterol. Then think about when you want to reach your goals. Be realistic but also set it to where you need to work.
How will you reach your goals? Just like planning a vacation. You decide where you're going, for how long and how you're going to get there. This is often left out when we create goals and then we fail. Having a solid plan in place is key. Here's a bonus; Often times we'll discover that in our how for one goal, we will reach another without making additional changes.
In creating your how, remember to find tools and support that help you to keep it simple and easy to follow. You want success, not overwhelm and failure. We've already been around that mountain.
Add your why. This is so very important for success. You can expect temptation to come on day 1. Going through this process is powerful preparation to overcome every temptation and roadblock you might face. Post your why where you can see it, take a copy with you. That way you can pull it out and tell temptation to get in the trash where it belongs.
So now you know where you're at, where you're going, how you'll get there and why. Start getting all your tools in place so that you're ready to go in September or whenever you want to get started on the new you. Remember...
You're Worth It!
