Last week I shared part of my journey. If you missed it you can read it here; Sick, Fat, Tired and Stressed Out. It's not a fun place to be. Knowing life has so much more to offer but not feeling well enough to step in and live. When I say well enough, I mean my mind as well as my physical body. Our physical state of health effects our mental state as well as our spiritual. We are spiritual beings, with a mind of our own and we live in a physical body. If one area is out of whack, they all are affected.
Change and /or Life Transformation starts with knowing there's a problem. I think we can all agree that we have an area that we know needs change. For some of us, a light needs to come on to see just how important health is to living life. For me, it took a series of events before I was willing to take an honest look at the state of my health. I had for several years, studied nutrition and natural health, living what I thought was fairly healthy. Then I let life happen and before I knew it I was a mess.
Diets were failing me, I was getting mad at myself. Most people in my life said I was getting older and weight gain was to be expected and I should be thankful for the quality of health I had. Wow, I wish I knew then what I know now. I would have preached it well! What non-sense we buy into. The truth is, we can live healthy, thin, have energy and manage stress at any age.
I began to change my mind, to spend more time talking to God. Changing your mind, making a decision to change the things in your life that need to change is the next step. I encourage you to get really honest with yourself without beating yourself up, and make a list of what you want to change. If you want to lose weight, write it down. Whatever it is, write it down. Even if it seems trivial or unimportant, write it down. If it seems to good to be true, write it down. This is the step that is often left out of fad diets, or health programs. Write this down; "Lasting change starts and stops in my mind." Put that on your mirror, your computer and your phone. Put a copy on your refrigerator. Places you will see it often until it becomes a part of you.
The next step for me was re-programming my mind. For some of us, we have to stop settling. Transformation is a process and there are steps along the way that lead to bigger and better places but our minds need to stay fixed on the dream. On your list, write down your dream for each area you want to change.
