Can you look yourself in the mirror and know that know that you know that you love yourself? I'm not talking about being self-absorbed. Most self-absorbed people are actually insecure and struggle with self-loathing. I'm talking about loving you for who you are. There are always things about ourselves that we want to improve upon or change and that shouldn't cause us to dislike or reject our self. We are human and that means that we are not and will never be perfect.
According to an online dictionary self-love is regard for one's own well-being and happiness. I like it.
When making decisions about food, activity, vacations, etc we take our family into consideration. We have their well-being and happiness in mind and make decisions accordingly. Do you do that for yourself?
We have been taught to sacrifice and put others needs before our own to the point that we feel guilty when we take 15 minutes for "Me" time. That's not healthy. You're not Godly or a "good" person when you sacrifice your health, happiness and well-being for the sake of others and their activities. That's such a poor teaching and belief. Following it has led people into sickness and misery.
I always go back to this. When you're on an airplane the Flight Attendant does a little demo to tell you how to survive when something goes wrong. They teach you to put on your own oxygen mask First. Even before putting one on your beloved child. They don't teach you to run around the plane helping everyone else first and sacrificing your life for the sake of helping others. They teach you that you can't help anyone, not even the child you love more than anything, until you first help and care for yourself. Once you have your oxygen mask on, you can then help others.
So let's apply this to everyday life. It starts with looking in the mirror and getting real and honest about how you feel about You. If you're not currently taking great care of yourself, most likely you have some work to do in the area of self-love. I give you plenty of tips on how to overcome and begin to love yourself. I offer Coaching and the My Transformational Journal is a great tool that will have you loving you again in no time. You're worth spending time, money and energy on becoming your best you.
Making sure you're eating healthy, exercising, properly supplementing, getting plenty of rest, having fun, eliminating internal and external stress, spending time with God and at least a few minutes of alone, "Me," time everyday are all things people do that have regard for their health, well-being and happiness. By practicing these, you're living a healthy lifestyle and teaching your children, friends and family how to live healthy too.
You're Worth It!
