Are You Prepared?

The holidays are fast approaching. Candy, cookies, heavy comfort foods, alcohol and temptation after temptation. It's also a time of family gatherings and lots of pictures. We all want to look our best and have fun. So how do we pull it off?

The best way to start the season is to have a holiday goal. You have to know where you're going in order to get there. So what's your goal? Write it down and post it on your refrigerator. This year, my holiday goal is to firm up and look better on January 1 than I do today. I'm happy with my weight but I really want to jump-start the new year with more muscle. That is my focus.

Keep your own snacks with you. Protein bars and apples are super easy to carry with you. Make your own trail mix and create "goodie bags". Planning ahead and being prepared are the keys to success.

If you're traveling, take Shakeology packets with you, a shaker bottle and protein bars. That way you always have a healthy meal with you even if you get stuck in the airport.

I really think mindset is the most important key to having a healthy and happy holiday. If you focus on what you can't have, sugar cookies and candy corn then you'll most likely end up eating your way through the holiday and beating yourself up after. Try focusing on being your true you. The healthy happy you who loves the holiday for the joy of spending time with loved ones. Focus on something other than food.

When you see a bowl of candy, stop and think about what it will do to your body and mind. How will it fit into your holiday goals? My guess is, you'll be more than happy to pull out a protein bar and pass on the candy. Think about how you'll feel if you eat it and if you don't.

Here's a simple healthy cookie recipe. Stash a few in your purse or pocket.

Shakeology No-Bake Cookies

1 cup Chocolate Shakeology powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup oatmeal (quick)
1/3 to 1/2 cup honey or agave nectar (to taste)

Directions: Combine ingredients in bowl. Mix well. Roll into balls (about 1 heaping teaspoon each).

Optional: Roll balls in crushed nuts, oatmeal mixed with a little cinnamon, graham cracker crumbs, or unsweetened coconut flakes.

Stay on track with your fitness routine. Now's the time to really focus and take care of you. The cold and flu season is coming; exercise and eating healthy will help to build up your immune system. Sugar tears it down.

You're Worth It!

With Love,
