Every Home Should Have These

Today I want to share with you a few of my favorite powerhouse foods I think should be a staple in every home. As always, buy organic and enjoy. If you buy processed, they won't have the same benefits. Enjoy!

1. Coconut Oil. I love, love, love extra virgin coconut oil. I buy a big tub of it at a time. It's anti-microbial, which means it kills bacteria, virus' and fungus. It's one of the few oils that is safe to use when cooking at higher temperatures. It's a great skin moisturizer and lip gloss. Use it to whiten your teeth and maintain great oral hygiene by oil pulling. It kills bad breath too. It's also being used to help Alzheimer patients. It's a great source of healthy fats for us. There are many other health benefits that I haven't listed. I add it to my smoothies sometimes, in place of butter and  to remove eye makeup in addition to what's listed above.

2. Raw, local organic Honey. Raw honey is anti-microbial and can soothe a sore throat. If you buy local honey, it can help alleviate allergies. It's very nutrient dense and it won't spike your blood sugar. It's also beneficial in building your "good" intestinal bacteria. Moderation is key.

3. Raw Apple cider Vinegar. Another powerhouse that every home should have on hand. It's anti-microbial and may help lower blood sugar. A great digestive aid and will help prevent indigestion. Can help clear a stuffy nose, aid in weight loss and get rid of dandruff. It can help with night time leg cramps and give your hair a super shine. It's also great for balancing your bodies ph. Try adding a tsp to your favorite guacamole recipe or salad dressing recipe for some zing and amazing health benefits. Try a tablespoon mixed in water about a half hour before eating to aid in digestion.

4. Garlic. Garlic contains a small amount of almost all the nutrients we need. It boosts your immune system and will cut the length of time you have a cold in half. It's a powerful anti-microbial. It can help to lower cholesterol and maintain a healthy heart. It can improve your workout and help you live a longer life. It's best to eat it raw. Try crushing it and adding to salad dressings. You can make great tasting infused olive oil that tastes great and keeps you healthier.

These are just a few of my favorites and of course there are many other fantastic benefits to eating and using these powerhouse foods. I encourage you to keep them as staples in your home.
