Happy, Healthy and Skinny

In the last 2 posts, I've shared some of my journey to health and weight loss. If you haven't read them yet, I encourage you to do so. The first is titles, Sick, Fat, Tired and Stressed Out and the second in the series is And the Transformation Begins. I mentioned how I created my own plan and was able to get off prescription medication. Today, I'll wrap it up with Happy, Healthy and Skinny.

I spent years figuring out how to get healthy and lose weight without failing and driving myself crazy in the process. I truly believe we can have a measure of peace in the storm and remain happy, healthy and skinny. It's a process but if I can do it, you can too! I'm reminded of pushing a cart to the top of a mountain. It's not easy pushing something up hill. You get tired, wonder why the heck you started and whether or not it's even going to work. You stop and start again. It's a battle to get up that mountain. Once you're at the top, the view is clear and beautiful. Then you hop on the cart and whiz down the mountain catching incredible momentum along the way. You are now a force to be reckoned with. You're laughing and having a blast on the ride of your life that will take you where ever you want to go.

So what did I do? I learned it's a Mind, Body Spirit thing. You can't have health in one area without the other.

Mind- I had a change of perspective. I made a decision to get healthy rather than to take the "magic pills" and follow the "magic diet." You have to do the work, nothing good happens overnight. The first thing that needs to be put in the trash, is the victim mindset. You're not a victim, stop acting like one. Life happens to all of us and it's our choice how we will respond. I'm sorry bad things have happened to good people, but great people rise above. They refuse to sit around feeling sorry for themselves, blaming others, blaming life, wishing they had what so and so has. Stop it. It's killing you! I care about you too much to not be honest with you. I encourage you to change your mind today, be willing to do the hard work and tell your emotions to get on board.

Spirit- Have relationship with God. God is for you and has an incredible plan for you life. Unfortunately, we can't fully live out that plan if we are sick, fat, tired and stressed out.

Body- We only have one body and it has to last us many years. Why would we hurt it by feeding it junk food-like products, deprive it of the physical activity it needs, fill it full of chemicals and deprive it of the nourishment and fuel it needs? I got on an at home exercise routine that was planned out for me, started walking and hiking when I could and got adequate rest. I began to nourish my body with a healthy smoothie in the morning and adopted a plant-based diet. I eliminated food-like products and foods that contained names I couldn't pronounce. It was a learning curve and well worth it. Now, when I have something I would consider junk, it doesn't even taste good to me. I now crave exercise and good fresh food.

You deserve to live a life you love. A fulfilling life that serves purpose and makes you happy.

You're Worth it!

With Love,
