I love a new year, a new journal, or a new tablet. They have one thing in common; fresh clean pages. The opportunity to write a beautiful new story. This year promises to be great, if I allow it to. You ask; "What if a difficult situation arises that's out of my control?" True, life happens. The good, the bad and the ugly. The truth is that we can't control every aspect of our lives, but we can choose how we respond. We can choose to walk through those difficult times with faith, hope, joy and peace or we can let anger, bitterness, depression and a victim mindset to consume us. There are events that are so traumatic to us that our souls become wounded and out of that hurt come mindsets that seem like protection at the time but later keep us from living healthy and happy lives. Let's choose to get rid of the negative, self-destructive junk now at the beginning of this new year so we can fill our fresh pages with goals reached, heart desires fulfilled, happiness and health. Here are a few tips for making this a great year of freedom and restoration of health.
Spend some time alone and invite God to show you areas of unforgiveness; towards others and yourself. Forgive. Unforgiveness breeds bitterness and all kinds of icky junk that will only hurt you and keep you under the control of the one who hurt you. Let go for you. Forgive, let go and surrender the who and what to God.
Learn about the power of living a life of gratitude. If you already know how, then start now. Begin and end each day with prayers of thanksgiving and thoughts of gratitude. If you catch yourself thinking fearful or negative thoughts daily, get a copy of My Transformational Journal and get into one of my groups. You can't keep doing what you've always done and expect different results.
Really love yourself and make self-care a priority. Not sure if you love yourself? Listen to what you often tell yourself. If it's negative or mean, chances are you might not love you. That's ok, I struggled with self-loathing for many years and didn't even realize it. We've been taught that self-care is selfish and the mistakes we make mean we're bad. That's just not true. If we don't love who we are and care for our body, mind and spirit; how can we love and care for others? We can't effectively. That's a whole other teaching, the important thing is that you are valuable and lovable despite your flaws and mistakes. Learn to love you.
In just a short time of practicing these few tips, you will start to dance and sing your way on your path of life. You're worth it!
