If you are overwhelmed, you are not alone. Most people at some point in their lives have struggled with overwhelm. Why? Feeling overwhelmed is most often a trauma response. If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that trauma is common and not a one size fits all issue. What happens when we feel overwhelmed? We can feel stressed, anxious, depressed, stuck, trapped, hopeless, confused, tired, exhausted, unable to focus, hyperfocused, have stomach issues, migraines, and many other symptoms. Feeling overwhelmed can be paralyzing. I believe it’s the biggest reason we fail at consistency and reaching our goals, among other things.
If any of the above resonates with you, you may be stuck in overwhelm. So how do we get unstuck? First, just knowing you are overwhelmed is a huge step n the right direction. Next, learning how we cope with overwhelm and what we do, or how we check out is a huge key to overthrowing overwhelm. Then we gather the personalized tools that we need to help us create new healthy habits. Finally, we retrain our brain and practice using our tools until we have broken through the overwhelm.
Yes, that’s the very simplified version but it really is simple. It just takes time and consistency. Oh, and I left out connecting with the right person, coach, to help you find those tools that will help you as a unique person. That is the secret sauce! Most teach a one size fits all method and that’s why so many people stay stuck.
What are some ways you cope with overwhelm? Make a list. What time of day does it usually hit you? What have you tried to make it go away? How well has that worked for you? Are you ready to make a few simple changes in your daily routine that will help you overthrow overwhelm? If so, you are in the right place.
I have put together a coaching program that will get you feeling amazing and checking off that to-do list with time to spare so you can start enjoying your life.
